Where you’re at

You’re dealing with a specific condition such as lower or upper back pain, fed up of being in pain and frustrated that you can’t do some of the things that you used to and life isn’t like it once was. You may have just finished, or be part way through, a course of treatment with a physio, chiropractor or osteopath and they have recommended you do Pilates to manage your condition.

You feel ‘enough is enough’ and want to take back control of your body, health and life again.

What problems might you be facing right now?

Even though you’ve moved out of the really acute pain stage (in which you’re in significant pain every day), you may still be in pain (or may be out of pain, but fearful of the pain returning) and scared that moving will make it worse. Your work and lifestyle (and any associated stress) may be hampering you from making a full recovery and your condition is affecting your daily life, stopping you from doing the things you want and making you feel frustrated, irritable or a bit low.

How can private sessions help you?

You will no longer have to suffer alone and will have the support of someone who really understands what it is like to live with back pain and the impact it can have on all areas of life.

The sessions (which last an hour) will be tailored towards what’s going on with your body and your goals and we will go at the right pace and level of challenge for you. Having a bad day pain- or stress-wise needn’t put you off attending as your sessions can be adapted to how you’re feeling and what you need that particular day. Feeling great and wanting to work hard, that’s not a problem too – you will be challenged safely.

During the sessions you’ll get close attention and lots of correction (verbal and/or hands on depending on whether they’re in the studio or virtual) to help you get the most out of them. If you’re the sort of person who will happily do exercises outside of our sessions (I recognise not everyone wants to!), you will be given a short personalised exercise plan to do on your own so that you progress faster (without it taking over your life). We’ll also discuss lifestyle and you’ll be given advice on simple tips and techniques you can use in every day life to help you.

It includes:

  • Private sessions either at Beth’s studio or in the comfort of your own home via Zoom or Skype (the technology is really easy, all you need is a wifi connection). The sessions will encompass exercises on the mat and on a range of specialist Pilates equipment, including the reformer, chair, cadillac, barrels and small equipment.
  • Personalised exercises to do outside of sessions.
  • Tips on things you can do in your every day life to feel and move better.
  • Regular assessments to track your progress.
